It's been a while... + some news

Now, this blog is new and I don't even think anyone really reads it, so I am going to use it more as a tool to chronicle our lives.

Alot has happened since my last post...which was over a month ago.  Jason's knee has been feeling much better - he is walking without limping and is able to walk up and down the stairs with no problems!!  The doctor said he should be as good as new in another few weeks.

The news about his knee is really good news.  He is going to be busier than ever over the next several months becuase we have a few projects (laying tile in the foyer, removing the carpet in the dining room and finishing the hardwood that is underneath...) around the house that we want to get done before the end of the year.  I have a feeling that next year is going to be pretty darn busy and so we won't have the time to do some of this stuff.  Sure there are little things that we can get done, but we want to try and knock some of these bigger projects out of the way.

Why the end of the year, you ask??  Well, that would be because we are expecting our first child in January!!!  Yes, that is correct.  Jason and I are going to have a baby!  I am due January 9th, 2012.  We are elated and very, very excited.  That is the main reason that I havn't written a blog post (or done much of anything) over the past 4-6 weeks since we found out.  I have been absolutely drained of any energy and usually just pass out after I get home from work.  We had our first sonogram a couple of weeks ago and saw the hearbeat, which was an incredible moment.  I mean, I knew I was pregnant before that appointment, but seeing that on the screen made it sooo real.  It really was amazing...Thank God for that tiny little heart that was beating 148 times a minute!!

Jason as been great with doing a lot of stuff around the house, including the cooking and cleaning.  (** Note - Jason has always been good with cleaning and helping...it's the new cooking skill that he is doing really well with!)   :)

There is so much to think about when having a child...good grief!  I have already talked with several cousins and friends who have kids and my brain is already overloaded!  Don't get me wrong, it is awesome to have these women as resources who can help us with some decisions over the next few months, but geesh!  My cousin Teresa (and Maid of Honor in my wedding) sent me the book Baby Bargains and it arrived yeserday with a super sweet little card.  It just stinks that she is all the way in Knoxville, TN and so I probably won't get to see her that much.  Anyway...I was going through the book last night on the couch before I feel asleep and I think it will be really beneficial!  There are tons of parent reviews and the authers give each product a grade (A-F) just like in school, so it should be pretty easy to use.

Well - I really am going to try and post more often so that we can have an online journal of these amazing 9 months.  Oh - I did get a little pregnancy journal the other day which I need to start filling out before I forget things!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!

About Me

My name is Laura Christine and I am 26 years old.  I am originally from Buffalo, NY but moved to Maryland to go to college, ended up marrying the love of my life and settling down outside of Baltimore.  Jason and I were married on August 15, 2009...I can't believe that it has almost been two years!  We were friends for a while before we started dating my senior year of college.

Shortly after we were married, Jason and I were fortunate and extremely blessed to be able to buy our home in a great neighborhood with lots of families and children :).  We can't wait to have a family of our own with the pitter patter of little feet running around the house - hopefully once we have children I will be able to stay home with them as Jason and I both feel that is important.  We are young, in love, and absolutely love being together...whether it is going to church, taking a trip, doing yardwork, or just running errands together on the weekend.  We are Christian, family oriented, conservative, and basically everything studies and journals say that our generation is not.

As I said, I grew up in Buffalo and my parents still live there.  I have one younger brother and a wonderful extended family with lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins.  I love having a big family and getting together for holidiays, weddings, and family reunions (in fact one of my cousins just got engaged last week so there will be another opportunity for everyone to get together)!!  My father is from Europe, Austria to be exact, and so I was bit by the travel bug at an early age.  I love traveling to other countires and experiencing their cultures and ways of life.  I love hiking and being outdoors.  I really enjoy cooking and baking and if I do say so myself, I am pretty good at it (just as Jase!).  Jason and I both love animals, as evident by the fact that we have three rescued dogs (I'll save that whole story for another post).
That's it for now, I'm off to snuggle with my hubby and watch some hockey :)

Good night!!

Exhausted!

Phew!  This has been an exhausting week and I am honestly surprised that I am still awake right now to post (it is only 8:20 btw).  Jason had knee surgery on Friday and it went well, but I was the nurse for several days...I don't mind doing it, it is just exhausting!!  Ever since we got home from the hospital Friday night I haven't been able to keep my eyes open.  He is doing really well!  He has been icing and keeping his leg elevated constantly and the swelling has really gone down and he is making his way around the house without crutches.  This nifty contraption, appropriately titled the Iceman, is his new BFF.  Good job, Jase!

Then...somehow I got selected to give a presentation at work, to over 1000 people over two different sessions.  Talk about exhausting!  As soon as I finished presenting at the morning meeting, I immediatly felt tired and had to pull myself together enough to be able to present again this afternoon.  Geesh!  It's not that I mind public speaking, I actually enjoy it; but this was in front of my peers, people I work with on a daily basis, a few people that I recognized from college, etc.  At my previous job as an Admissions Counselor, I gave presentations all the time and , but this was slightly different as I actually knew people in the audience.  I think it went well, but I did catch myself talking pretty quickly...oh well.

We have been enjoying the NHL Playoff's for the past couple of weeks.  Although my hometown team didn't make it (Sabres) Jason and I still enjoy watching.  I'm going to be honest.  Hockey is one of the only team sports that I enjoy watching, with the exception of soccer.  Hockey and soccer are fast paced and there is usually something always going on.  I can't stand football and baseball; they bore me and I can't stay awake.

Modern Family is new tonight...woohoo!  We LOVE this show.  We love that it is family oriented.  We love that it can make us laugh until we cry.  We love that this is a "lesson" at the end of each episode.  We love how real it is.

A busy April..

Sooo....I started this blog back on April 1st and then I haven't posted anything.  I guess I started this and then didn't know what to do or say...you may say that I got cold feet - yikes!  Ya know how some people have a special theme or topic that they discuss on their blogs??  Well, mine doesn't have that...it will be a place for random thoughts and stories throughout the day/week!  So be prepared for some good laughs, mostly because I have THE MOST random thoughts (and I am a horrible story teller)...trust me.  If you keep reading, that will be crystal clear.  I like to think that I am creative, but probably not as much as some other blogs I read.  In all seriousness, no one is making you read my blog, unless you happen to be my husband and I force make you read it and tell me how wonderful it is.  HA!

It has been a pretty busy month!  My parents came to visit from Buffalo (my childhood home - GO SABRES!) for a long weekend.  It was great to see them and spend some time together, although that was when Jason first got sick.  My dad and I fixed some things around the house while Jason was laid up - oh, he hurt is knee and is having surgery on Friday...so he couldn't do much.  Mom and I went shopping and then Sunday was nice to spend with extended family.

Jase and I were both sick with colds, sinus infections, ear infections...the whole nine yards.  So, needless to say, there was a good week and a half where we didn't do anything but sleep, and sleep, and sleep some more.  I think we are on the mend, which is for the best as Jase is having surgery in two days.

That's all for now!

P.S. - We started watching a new show on GSN, Drew Carey's Improv-a-Ganza, and it is really quite funny - if you need a good, hardy laugh, check it out!

I have a blog!

My first post on my new blog.  I have been reading several blogs now for a while and eventually got bit by the blogging bug...so here I am!  I plan on blogging about everyday life; including the ups and downs and all of the smiles along the way.

Grab a cup of coffee, a great piece of pie and join me on my way!
